Princess Basma bint Ali of Jordan visited Bahrain to attend the 1st World Environment Dialogue under the Patronage of H.E Dr. Abdul Hussain Ali Mirza thru the efforts of Ms. Mina Lee, the organizer of the event and the Chairman of Crystal International. After the two day dialogue, Princess Basma bint Ali paid visit to Princess Sabeeka Park in Awali. She was received by Bapco’s General Manager Special Assignments and Public Relations Manager Jalal Khalaf. Princess Basma took the tour of the park and was impressed with the facilities.

The belief that Environment protection and conservation is a call for few and not all is a misconception in the highest degree.

In the Arab World today, environment is a subject that calls for a great deal of balancing acts.  They are talking a lot  about it but no permanent solutions nor collaborations have been reached.

Each one has its own agenda and none great cooperation have been initiated in order to find  Middle East initiatives and participation bringing solutions toward commitment and accountability as far as the environment is concerned.

In year 2009, two Global Environment Conferences were held.  “The First Global Environment Conference” on 20^th June 2009 and “The 2^nd Global Environment Conference and Exhibition” last 7-8th December coinciding with the Copenhagen Summit.  The aims, goals and objectives are the same which calls for commitment and accountability as far as environment sustainability is concerned and most, conservation and protection.

The organisation behind these events, Crystal International Canada, PJ Investments (HK) Asia and Crystal Environment Foundation  and spearheaded by its Founder and Chairwoman, Mina  Leonora V. Lee devoted her time, efforts  and privately funded the conferences.

To continue the environmental noble causes,   Ms. Lee is going  to  hold  “The 1st World Environment Summit” – Middle East Dialogue, ‘Bahrain 2011′ and “The Sustainable Planet Film  Festival” on 27 – 28^th January 2011 at “The Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa.

Under the Patronage of His Excellency, Dr. Hassan Fakhro,  Minister, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Kingdom of Bahrain, “The 2^nd Global Environment Conference & Exhibition” with  the theme “Environment Campaign Dynamics” –  ‘Recognizing Compliance – Urgency – Responsibility and Accountability’ would be held on the  7 – 8^th December 2009, starting 8:00 in the morning with a   ‘Gala Dinner’ on the  6^th December 2009 at the Banyan  SpA & Resort Hotel – Al Areen,  Kingdom of   Bahrain for two days.

“Recognizing Compliance – Urgency – Responsibility & Accountability

This Conference & Exhibition is to continue the purpose and process of the Aim;  Objectives and  Vision from the first conference   and further build and strengthen environmental campaign and compliance  for Bahrain and the rest of the region.

With the recently concluded “A Global Environment Conference”  covering the theme ‘Better Ways to Life – Bahrain Initiatives, under the Patronage of HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President, The Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment & Wildlife, and Governor, Southern Governorate,  said one day conference was a success with participation from all levels – government; diplomatic community;  private sector;   educational institutions;  society and the public as a whole.  Held in Banyan Spa & Resort Hotel,  this one-day conference served as an initial awareness and platform  to the issues concerning  environment in Bahrain.

This Conference would cover topics stressing campaign and compliance with  Speakers’ sharing their expertise, experience commitment and emphasizing projects currently undertaken; future initiatives and/or plans emphasizing results achieved as far as conservation and protection of the environment is concerned.

The Conference would also serve as the platform for the Speakers to  stress the urgency of the Environment’s degrading  situations;  propose and confer with the Government bodies; hear the suggestions and possible solutions from the participants and delegates and close the session with full cooperation and support;  involvement; collective understanding, dedicated enthusiasm and action plans.

Meanwhile, the Exhibition would invite and include  government bodies or regulators;  local, regional & international observers and companies or organizations – private sector;  societies and even individuals, with the  aim to  interact, showcase/ display;  promote or  highlight existing Environment based products / services/ activities; discuss ideas  and record  practical involvement  in environment related projects; and so on.

Furthermore, the Exhibitors  must conform following set criteria base on -

• Responsibility

• Accountability
• Initiatives & Implementation
• Results

Environment Crises Ends!

“this is not the 11^th hour, on the 11^th day of the 11^th month – which ended the World War in 1919!”

This is our call for the “11^th hour that must end all environmental atrocities and destructions” … future generations are the victims, none of them knowing it!

Are we the “environmental socialites and hypocrites” who never care, and now killing slowly our future sons and daughters? Or shall we have environmental disasters the like of September 11^th with maximum destruction to wipe them all?!

We talk about macro economic prosperity – wealth and money; but, are we thinking and doing macro protection and conservation of the environment?

Which comes first? – the egg or the chicken? What about striking the balance?

Or perhaps, how about making an 11^th hour decision – “no more environmental abuse? – no more destruction of our limited environment or earth resources. Let’s end it now … meaning now!”

AN URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRWOMAN

Today, “The 2^nd Global Environment Conference & Exhibition” – with the theme “Environment Campaign Dynamics” gathered all – everyone! With an aim to ‘put intense pressure on campaign, commitment and compliance’. We are not going to victimize nor jeopardize our present and future generations just because we totally ignore, came late or decided to be late in the environmental challenges and issues.”

With 14 high profiled Speakers for the two days Conference and Exhibition and the presence of everyone – the government; the private sector – companies / organizations; observers; studentry – representing the young generation; delegates; and educationalists, we are all aiming to push and pressure all concerned in order that we can have the compliance and the results we aim for – laws and regulations – that would preserve and protect the integrity, sanctity and respect to our environment in Bahrain…. and the world.

In Copenhagen, as we speak today, their Summit have with them the same aim as we are. Campaign, commit and comply! Why not join them… the difference, we are doing it here in our own. More effective, with highest – maximum results!

They have a saying, “you cannot clean your neighbor’s backyard if you do not clean your own first!” Bahrain is a small island and if we focus on proper environment management, it is easy to maintain and contain!! Let us all dream and realize an “environment friendly” Bahrain!!
